A little over two years ago, five local Realtors felt like something was missing. They had all worked for large franchise realty companies, but had an unfulfilled desire to have an emotional tie between the businesses and the community they were serving. Sometimes to live your dream, you have to be willing to step out on your own and that is exactly what they did.  The decision was made to take the big step of opening their own real estate brokerage in the summer of 2009, Capstone Realty became a reality.

Capstone Realty is one of those companies that I look for to highlight on the blog. One of the first things they implemented from the very beginning ( it’s even included in their business plan) was a branch of the company called Capstone Gives Back.  Agents donate a portion of their commission checks to Capstone Gives Back and the money is used to, either hold fundraisers for local charities or to purchase items for charity organizations that serve people in need.

In the last two years, Capstone Gives Back has already held fundraisers for Soles 4 Souls, The Pajama Program, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Connect to the Cure and the Salvation Army. Soles4Souls is an amazing charity that I have been hearing great things about for several years.  Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Soles4Souls has a simple concept: they procure shoes and get them to those in need. To date over 15 million shoes have been distributed. There are actually 2 drop off locations in Huntsville, AL if you have used shoes in good condition you would like to donate. Valley Birkenstock on Airport Road and Fleet Feet Sports on Carl T Jones Drive both take donated shoes for Soles4Soles.

According to Darrin Hasley, one of Capstone’s owners and a graduate of UAH, his philosophy is “philanthropy believes in compassionate consumerism. We believe that by working with us you can make a difference in your community and the world around you. When you buy or sell a home with us, a portion of the commission is set aside and used to support various charitable organizations. We feel that supporting the community in which we work and thrive is not just an idea, but our responsibility. Giving to causes which strengthen our neighborhoods and the local economy elevates our great city.”

Capstone Realty is a full service realty company with approximately 35 agents that serve North Alabama and the company is licensed statewide. The company assists and advises home buyers and home sellers during the home buying or selling process. They also do a great deal of work with real estate investors. Capstone is member of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and the Huntsville Area Association of Realtors.

Capstone’s goal is to be the preferred real estate company for local home buyers and sellers in the area. According to Darrin, “We want every one of our clients to have a “success story” or a memorable experience when they work with one of our agents. Client satisfaction has always been a main focus, which is why a large part of our business comes from referrals. The most rewarding part of my business is being able to help people, who never thought they would be able to, purchase a home and see how ecstatic they can be. It really is the “American Dream”. In this economy, it is equally as satisfying to help a home seller be able to sell their home quickly and get them into their next place.”

Recently, the company has, also, been hosting seminars for people who are interested in real estate investing. The last seminar had over 50 people and they plan on doing more of them in the future. Dates will be posted on the website once future dates are confirmed.

On a personal note, it is amazing how the universe works sometimes. I try very hard to only promote companies that I believe in myself from personal experience or that I know are doing good things in the community. Capstone Realty was suggested to me a little while back and has been on my list of companies to write about. I agreed this past week to work my daughter’s part time job at an insurance company while she finishes her last semester of school, so that she could keep the job when she returns. I knew the agency was located within a real estate office, but didn’t know until I started this week that it was located in the Capstone Realty office. It has given me a unique perspective on the company and has only confirmed my decision to write about them and the good things they are doing in the community.  I just wanted to add that from my experience this week, this is a top notch company full of very nice and extremely professional people.
